Islam-Based Superheroes: Here to Save the Day or Villains in Disguise?

America has been embraced with new superheroes. They are not your typical superheroes, they are Islam-inspired superheroes. With Marvel and DC comics helping create this new comic book called “The 99”. The goal is to try and reposition Islam to Muslims. The past most superheroes in comics have been white. The creator’s ultimate goal of creating the Islam-inspired superheroes was for children to get a better image on Islam. He didn’t want people imaging suicide bombers when they think of Islam; he wanted children to get the true meaning of being Islam. The group of superheroes in the comic book each represents the 99 characteristics of Allah.

This idea is a good idea to get the stereotypical idea of Islams, that they are all terrorists. To make a comic book of superheroes based on Islamic characters will help rebuild the image of Islam.

Good use of comic books to reach a particular demographic, as well. Photo novelas have been used in Mexico to spread similar pro-social ideas. Any other links that might be helpful for me to understand this story?
