Red Sox collapse rocks a Nation’s foundation

Last night may have been one of the craziest nights in baseball history. There were two playoff spots on the line with one day of baseball left in the regular season. The Red Sox and Rays were tied for the final spot and the Cardinals and Braves were tied on the other side. The Cardinals won the NL side, while the AL side things got interesting. The Red Sox were up in the 9th and the Rays were down in the 9th. The Rays tied it and took it to extra innings, while the Red Sox blew the lead and gave up the winning run. The Rays ended up winning in extra innings. The Red Sox had one of the worst Septembers in team history and their game last night topped it all off.

There were many upset baseball fans wondering if the Yankees purposely threw the game against the Rays. The Yankees already clinched home field and were resting up for the playoffs. This collapse tops other memorable collapses by the Red Sox in the past. The Red Sox fans can blame the owners, the Yankees, and certain players. But when it comes down to it the Sox struggled in September and they didn’t really deserve it or act like they wanted it too badly.

I’m not a baseball fan, but even I feel like I missed something.
How about a link to a Boston newspaper? I bet they were nice.
Discussion as it relates to class as well. News values? Is sports
reporting objective? Homerism?
