Max Verstappen becomes 2 time World Champion

In the early morning of 9 October, Max Verstappen won the Formula 1 championship after another dominating performance in Japan.

He did this while matching the record of having 4 races to spare, with only Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel having done this before.

Whereas Max Verstappen won the race, he did not directly know he also already became world champion since the race got red-flagged. This means that limited points would be awarded to the winners because the race had les laps, this time due to the bad weather. Although the Suzuka race was red-flagged, it continued to a conclusion on track, so full points were awarded.

The audience in this case are F1 fans. Not even the biggest fans, but everyone who even just knows a little something about it who is interested to read about how the final race of the world champion went down. I think the bigger Formula 1 fans will look for other articles, talking more about the race itself as well as to just these ‘basic knowledge’ for them.

The lead of course is effective since it talks about how someone became a world champion. It is very clear what the article would be about. It is an easy and logic lead. It is factual and includes the who, what and where. It does not contain the when, but that could be because it is still so fresh as it happened this morning.

There is no point of view here as it only states facts about this season and last years season as well as quotes from Max Verstappen.

Lastly, it does not mis anything, everything is clear and it tells the reader all the basic information which it should know.

    Late/or early for Week #7

It seems like you are interested in what Americans would consider “niche” sports, Marnix. F1 racing is not as big as NASCAR, and I would argue NASCAR is sort of a niche interest in the US. Heavy in the South; invisible in the West.

Maybe this is a sidebar to the actual race story.
