Interview: Tyler Godown

Tyler Godown (pronounced Go-down) is from Las Vegas, Nevada, and is currently a junior at Morningside College. He originally came to Briar Cliff University on a men’s volleyball scholarship, but due to BCU cutting their volleyball program, he decided to stay in Sioux City to play volleyball for the Mustangs for his junior season. He chose Morningside over a couple of schools in California due to the amount of scholarships he was able to receive here.

This article explains the decision made by the NBA (National Basketball Association) to postpone all playoff games on August 26th. This is due to the protests of Jacob Blake, who was shot 7 times by a police officer on Sunday. These events began with the Milwaukee Bucks boycotting their game against the Orlando Magic this afternoon. The NBA decided to cancel the rest of the games that day shortly after, and a meeting was held with every player and coach to discuss what the plan for the NBA is moving forward.

I believe that this is very newsworthy, due to the fact of how big of a platform something like the NBA is, and how players and coaches are using that platform to protest something they believe in. These events were the buzz of the day not even on the sports world, but even reached platforms such as CNN and the New York Times. The events today left everyone wondering what will happen with the rest of this season moving forward.
