Taylor Swift’s voter push wasn’t enough to turn Tennessee blue

This article relates back to the article about Taylor Swift voicing her endorsement on democrats in her home state of Tennessee through an instagram post. This current article explains that though it was the first time the singer voiced her political views, it also was not enough for the state to turn blue. She endorsed US Senate candidate and former Gov. Phil Bredesen, as well as US House of Representatives candidate Jim Cooper, in her home state of Tennessee.

The state remains red, and is being represented by eight time member of congress, Marsha Blackburn. In the original instagram, Swift said that she wanted those smart people that were not able to vote before to make the right decision, because they are now 18.

The article said that the  initial post seemed to make an impact, but it is hard to know if it would have made any sort of difference.

This article is more of a follow up on the original post. I think it is nice and kind of cool that, though it was not the outcome that was hoped by the singer, the author went back to revisit the story.

I also like that, the author did not take any sides on this or make any remarks about the winning or losing sides.

Follow-ups are a type of feature, which is where we’re going in class for the next couple of weeks. It’s related to the news of the day, but not something people need in order to understand events.
