Interfaith Trip to Israel Offered this Summer

by Maggie Ganley– The interfaith trip to Israel offered by Rabbi Guy Greene this summer is one that explores not only Israel’s sites and wonders, but its historical and spiritual background as well.

“This interfaith Israel tour includes a combination of Jewish and Christian sites. Highlighting the most important sites in Israel from both perspectives, it is the perfect tour for exploring both religion values, culture, and history,” the flyer explains.

Israel is a hotbed for religions such as Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Traveling through Israel’s different historical sites is like taking a “walk through the Bible,” as students are able to visits sites such as Jerusalem and Nazareth.

After visiting iconic places such as the aforementioned cities, the Sea of Galilee, the Dead Sea, and so on Greene said students will be left with everlasting memories.

“Students will never forget this trip because it is so rich in history, all the way back from biblical times. We’ll be going to various synagogues and churches from the first and second century. Students will always have references to this trip when studying the Bible.”

The sense of camaraderie that forms as a result of the scheduled day trips and personal trips to dance halls and cafes at night, will also leave an impression on students.

Greene assured that the country is a very safe place and is modernized. He also said students are unlikely to experience language barriers because Israelis learn English at a young age.

Greene has in fact gone on this trip many times before. It has been offered as a May Term, he has taken this trip with his congregation, and has offered it as an intercity interfaith tour.

After living in Israel for four years and going on all of these trips, he definitely recommends going if you can.
