By Mia Wenzel – Morningside University will host the GPAC Tennis Tournament for the second consecutive year. On April 9, 2025, the Morningside Men’s Tennis Team clinched back-to-back regular season GPAC Champions with a 7-0 victory against Mount Marty. On April 14, 2025, they further solidified their status as back-to-back regular season GPAC Champions with another 7-0 win, this time over the College of Saint Mary’s.
Both the men’s and women’s teams secured the regular GPAC season championship for Spring 2024 and Spring 2025. The tennis team will be striving to compete at the national championships in Mobile, Alabama.
The GPAC tournament will be held from April 24-26 at the First Serve Tennis Center in South Sioux City, Nebraska, as well as the Morningside tennis courts on the Morningside Campus.

On April 24, 2025, the Men’s GPAC Tennis Tournament will commence here at Morningside University. Due to potential weather conditions, the tournament will be held inside at the First Serve Tennis Center in South Sioux City, Nebraska.
The Men’s Tennis Tournament begins with the fifth-seeded team, Northwestern, playing against the fourth-seeded team, Midland. The winner of the match will advance to compete against the first-seeded team, Morningside. Meanwhile, the sixth-seeded team, Doane, will take on the third-seeded team, Concordia, and the winner of that match will go up against the second-seeded team, Mount Marty. The championship match between the final two teams is scheduled for Saturday, April 26, 2025.
On April 25, 2025, the women’s GPAC Tennis Tournament will start outside, weather permitting. For updates on the tournament’s location, follow @msideutennis on Instagram and @gpacsports on Instagram.

The Women’s Tennis Tournament begins with the fifth-seeded team, Hastings, competing against the fourth-seeded team, Northwestern. The winner of this match will play against the top-seeded team, Morningside. Meanwhile, the sixth-seeded team, College of Saint Mary’s, will be playing the third-seeded team, Concordia. The victor of and whichever team wins that match will go on to face the second-seeded team, Doane. The championship match between the final two teams will be on Saturday, April 26, 2025, after the Men’s Championship Match.
Coach Alex Struck stated, “We have had our foot on the gas since September, since our first ever practice. We have a dream as one team and a goal that we all want to achieve. This team is one big family, and this is something that I am proud to be a part of.”
Coach Cole Renken and Struck have expressed their gratitude to supporters and encourage Morningside faculty, staff, and students to attend the matches! If you do come to the matches, please be respectful and demonstrate good sportsmanship both on and off the courts.
