My name is Shane Baratta and I am from Omaha Nebraska, graduating form Omaha South in 2021. In high school, I had played many sports such as football, powerlifting, golf, wrestling, and I had also contributed in robotics. After high school, I had come to Morningside to get a business degree and to compete in Esports at a collegiate level. My plans for the future is to create my own business and to be my own boss.
Angelo Martinez is from Cherry Hills, Colorado and has traveled to Sioux City Iowa to originally compete in the collegiate sport of baseball. Tragically, during his senior year of high school, while competing, Angelo was rounding third base and stepped on the bag wrong and tore his ACL. Instead of giving up on the school that gave him a chance, he decides to switch his scholarship to Esports. Playing multiple Varsity games such as Valorant and Overwatch. Competing in this online sport, takes up the same amount of time as a regular sport, if not more. So Angelo has to manage his time wisely to be as effective as he can be. To follow his dream, he is majoring in Marketing to later in life find his passion. Getting through college is all apart of the path that is leading him to the life he wants.
Serena Williams’s Magical Run at the U.S. Open Isn’t Over Yet
The U.S. Open had did their best to give Serena a legendary send off as she officially retires from the sport that she loves. Serena could have thrown herself a retirement party but instead she wanted to go out with a bang by competing in the U.S. open. Serena is not only a huge role model throughout the world but for female athletes and black tennis stars. She came out swinging in the first two rounds dominating the competition while having a high classed audience, including a former president, Tiger Woods, and also Zendaya. Serena still has a lot of fight in her, battling against her talented opponents, saying this is what she came for.
