Nancy Anecdote

Nancy Cornel was 12 when she encountered her first shark in the water. She was swimming in the salty water when she felt its rough skin rub up against her. At twelve she had the resolve to calmly swim back to land where most people would probably flip out and die of panic. Maybe it was Nancy’s fear of sharks that brought her from sunny California to blustery cold Iowa.

He is tall, at least tall to me, but stocky. He has blue eyes and thick blonde hair and a full blonde beard to cover his round face. He was earring grey nike glasses. He was wearing grey sweatpants and brooks running shoes. I asked him why he wore brooks running shoes when he doesn’t run and he told me its because he is very flat footed. He has a very deep small town accent, he speaks in the midwest sing song way where your words flow together.

We were practicing for our Spanish speaking exam. He has a very weird accent when he speaks Spanish, muddling the words. We were teasing each other as we practiced, he tried to tell me that Coca Cola owned kombucha. I told him that would be like Bic owning pens, Bic cannot own pens because well, they’re pens anyone can make and sell pens. He was also trying to convince me, and the others in the student gov office that we could start giving out allocations like shark tank and each class can give x amount of money.

Rough Draft

Science:

Greenland may actually be green as its ice sheet melts.

Greenland is losing it ice sheet at an alarming rate due to warming waters.

The ice sheet is melting six times faster than it was just a few decades ago. This rapid melting of the ice sheet is causing the ocean to rise more and more every year.

These rising Sea levels threatens 70% of the worlds population. Along with life on land, sea life will also be affected by rising sea levels.

Scientists now believe that the ice sheet is melting like an ice cube in water. These warmer tides are theorized to have come from the gulf stream.

Despite all the theories, scientists are still trying to figure out how to slow or possibly stop the ice sheet from melting further.

Jack Kelly Profile

The dusty smell of the gym, the squeak basketball shoes on the gym floor, the sound of dribbling down the court are all reasons as to why Jack Kelly loves basketball. But overall Jack loves basketball for the team, that feels so much like family.

Jack’s overnight at Morningside is what made the team feel like home. He felt the friendly competition between teammates during open gym. He was a part of the silly banter and the team chemistry at dinner. And he felt like just one of the guys when he hung out with the team that night at a player’s house.

Family is an import part in Jack’s life. Especially when his plans post college are to go back home and work in the family business to be near family. It’s a no brainer why Jack would pick Morningside, because of the team and the brotherly bond that they all share.
