Title: US open apologize for penalizing player who took her shirt off on tennis court

Website: https://www.goodmorningamerica.com/news/story/us-open-apologizes-french-tennis-player-alize-cornet-57473120By By: Morgan Winsor

Adrienine Bankert, a professional tennis player was given a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct for a dress code violation. Adrienine took off her shirt to switch it around because she said it was on backwards. This penalty prompts claims of sexism. People are tweeting using hashtags saying that the penalty was unfair.  Some people uploaded pictures showing males having their shirts off while on the court during set breaks. US officials apologized for the “incident” that happened at the match.

Morgan Wisner did a great job writing this article because she didn’t lean to either side of opinion. She got to the point, while having enough information to make this story interesting to read.

How the media cover White Supremacists

August 28, 2018

The media is to inform people on the current situation. Journalists have their own freedom of speech and can put their beliefs in the media if they desire. Media organizations should decide what to cover and how to interest their target audience. If consumers of media want to know more about the event they will tune in or read more, people who do not want anything to do with the story they have the right to ignore it. However, I think the more media coverage present reporting the story the more motivated the white supremacist group will be and the general population will tune into the story.

Bailey Maxon’s Story

August 23, 2018

I got to sit down with Bailey Maxon, a Sophomore at Morningside College Thursday afternoon. Bailey told me some interesting facts about herself, and what her hopes and dreams are for the future.

Bailey’s Major at Morningside College is photography with a minor in Journalism. Bailey said, I have always had a passion for photography, I always knew I wanted to go to college and major in something where I can use a camera and do something I’m passionate about. Bailey’s dream is to take pictures and wright for the National Geographic. Bailey’s dad has been the Woman’s Soccer Varsity Head Coach at Morningside College for a very long time now. I have been on the Morningside campus since I was little with my dad, it has always been like home to me, Bailey said.

Bailey is really looking forward for the next two years to see what opportunities she comes across at Morningside College.
