Lead Practice 2

Moyer Quick Townsville resident pronounced dead following car accident. The accident occurred at 11 a.m yesterday morning when 65 year old Moyer Quick’s and 17 year old Randy Radin’s vehicles collided on highway 20 two miles east of Sioux City.

Quick, Radin, and two passengers, Dorothy Quick and Maxine Steuerwald were rushed to Marian Health center. Mrs. Quick and Ms.Steuerwald are said to be in “fair” condition while Radin is listed as “critical” with a fractured skull and internal injuries.

Highway Patrolman, Patrick Stewart, said that both vehicles were heading west bond when Quick’s vehicle cut off Radin’s  causing both to vehicle’s into the ditch. Weather conditions are said to have been clear and dry.

    A couple of things, Grant: Use complete sentences and in the lead describe the who meaningfully: A Townville man died in a car accident yesterday. Then the names of those involved in the second graf. Readers want to know WHO before WHAT.

    Also, only a handful of media still use courtesy titles (the NYT is one). People might consider it sexist to only include titles for women and not men. Last names are fine for news. Sometimes first names in features, just for variety.
