Cranberries Lead Singer Died of Drowning While Intoxicated

This article is an update on the death of Irish folk/rock singer Dolores O’Riordan of the popular 90’s alternative rock group the Cranberries. According to the article the coroner has officially ruled her death an accidental drowning. This news story is important because of the prominence of the main player, O’Riordan. The writer of this article did a good job of explaining O’Riordan’s importance as a musician and activist while also explaining the facts around her death.

    This is an update of stories about the initial stories of O’Riordan’s death. While fans may have been curious about autopsy results, I wonder how important it really is that someone’s death — especially when it is accidental and tragic — be publicized like this.

    If you believe the media serves a “teacher” function, how likely is it that this story will act as a warning to others to not do drugs?
