Outgoing House of Hope director leaves big footprint on recovery field in Lincoln

Jay Conrad has been working as the House of Hope executive director and is now retiring after four decades. The House of Hope is a nonprofit organization that helps those who are recovering from mental health disorders and substance abuse.

When he was 25 years old, he went through substance use treatment. After being helped through treatment, Conrad wanted to use his experience for the greater good. He stated, “I had an interest in the field and wanted to give back”. He first started out supervising clients in the adolescent treatment program and in 1991 he was named the executive director.

Many described Conrad as someone with high standards and high integrity.

He has also helped expand the nonprofit from 4.2 full-time employees to 58 employees total. Not only did Conrad expand the organization, he also started two other programs. He started Touchstone and TASC which are structured treatment facilities with counseling and psychotherapy.

This article was very detailed and answered any questions that I could have had. It was nice to see that Jay Conrad turned his life around after suffering from substance use.
