Great article about a tragic event. This article gives a lot of insights into the incident that happened.
The main question that I had was, why would he come and shoot up a grain elevator? The author did a great job of touching on that the employee was just terminated and he did not leave a note behind for anyone. Since the shooter is dead, we do not know the 100% real reason why he shot and killed others.
One critique that I have is how the writer ended the article. Like we talked about in class, ending an article with a quote is not necessarily the best way to end it.
A way that this could be turned into a feature story is maybe by focusing on the individual that helped stop the shooting. This individual wanted to remain anonymous in this article but I think would make an interesting feature story.
Overall, well-written story with great detail and quotes.
Friday:
A story on work place shootings, maybe.
It is an interesting story. A feature story in itself, since it was written after the main news story was written.
