Allies Vow to Protect Ukraine’s Infrastructure From Russian Attacks NA10

It has recently come out that 7 nations discussed sending more air defense equipment to Ukraine and agreed to coordinate on rebuilding its infrastructure. This would be super useful for ukraine because they’re getting help from all over and are no longer self sufficient in rebuilding. The 7 different nations not only said that they would work together to rebuild critical infrastructure in Ukraine that has been destroyed by Russia’s military, but to also defend such sites from further attacks. This is again huge for ukraine because I feel like if they keep getting help from western countries russia will eventually back down because they are losing all kinds of support ever since they said they are planning where to drop nuclear weapons.

Stuart Scott

After watching the speech of stuart scott in the espy awards it got very heartwarming very quick. Scott made references several times to Jimmy Vlano, Scott said several times to not give up. With that expressed several times through his speech he also made a very good point in life and that was “our Life’s journey is about people who touch us”. He followed that with “Fight like hell. And when you get too tired to fight then lay down and rest and let somebody else fight for you. That’s also very, very important. I can’t do this “don’t give up” thing all by myself”. Scott pretty much said sometimes it’s ok to get help from others and know that you’re never alone. he later on goes to talk about his cancer journey and his story.

He explained that the friday before the award ceremony he got released from the hospital, and when he was in the hospital it wasnt looking good because he said that “I just got out of the hospital this past Friday. Seven day stay. Man, I crashed. I had liver complications. I had kidney failure. I had four surgeries in a span of seven days. I had tubes and wires running in and out of every part of my body. Guys, when I say every part of my body: every part of my body. As of Sunday, I didn’t even know if I’d make it here. I couldn’t fight. But doctors and nurses could. The people that I love and my friends and family – they could fight.” Explaining again that it is ok to rely on others for help and to let them help fight for you.

Scott finally closes out his speech by talking about his daughters and that they’re the reason he hasn’t given up yet and he closes it by bringing up his youngest daughter because she was the only one who was able to make it and he gave her a big hug on stage.

NA 8 The Presidents take on Russia and Nukes

The whole world knows who has nuclear weapons and who doesn’t, and the whole world is aware of the war in ukraine with russia. Russia previously went around telling western countries that ukraine us coming up with a nuclear dirty bomb. The reason that this is scaring people around the world is because accusing other nations of certain acts and them themselves then doing what they accused isn’t uncommon for russia.

With Russia losing ground quick and there seems to be no pathway to controlling vast swaths of the four provinces they recently annexed all signs lead to a dirty bomb. That’s when president biden “President Biden renewed his warning to President Vladimir V. Putin on Tuesday that it would be an “incredibly serious mistake” pretty much telling Putin that If he does use a nuclear bomb there will be severe consequences and the USA will have no choice but to intervene. However they way it comes is that it looks like it’ll be the world against russia, so its really not in putins best intrest to use a dirty bomb because thats almost a guarenteed world war 3.

Since I am beginning to write in a news format, the most concerning part of the assignment was learning to write in a new way. It is such a concern because I need to improve my writing skills. Now I have to write with a new tone and feel. There is a big bump in the road for me. Nevertheless, it is a challenge that I am willing to overcome.

One specific revision I made between my draft and the final version of my story was the structure and format of how it was written. Since I needed to learn how to structure it or how I wanted to format it, I signed into WordPress to look for any peers’ comments and had the idea to use my peers’ articles as a source of format for the structure. Doing that made my story more robust and flow better because now my story article has structure. It also helped me understand how I wanted my article to flow and sound correct. For example, here is a portion of my conclusion: The interviews revealed that Morningside struck out three-for-three with unhappy students. A simple fix on the campus of bringing more local food options can provide improved variety, taste, and satisfaction amongst students and staff.” Sitting down and thinking about what I wanted to say, help. However, I should have done it equally to all the paragraphs.

The process in article 2 that took the most effort was the most fun. Moreover, that was going out interviewing three different students on campus. Because it got me out of my comfort zone and talking to more people who are not my roommates. However, the time I wish I had spent more time on it would have to be sitting down, writing the essay, and going through it. After writing my final article, I felt confident about it. With that, my topic was powerful, something Most students on campus can connect to and stand behind. However, the students may all be able to connect and agree with this article, but what should have been changed was how opinion based the article was. It would have been better to remove my bias toward Morningside’s school foods from the writing altogether and it probably would’ve sounded better

Coldest winter ever coming threatens ukraine

It has been stated that one of the coldest harshest winters is forthcoming which is a huge problem for ukraine. This is now due to the fact that russia has turned away from attacking ukraines military and started attacking the civilians. However, not the way that you might imagine. Russia has been attacking the people of ukraine by what they need the most, their electrical grids. There is also reports that russia is planning to blow up a dam.

If Russia decides to blow up a dam it would cause catastrophic flooding. Not only flooding but also knock out more power supply. This is a big problem for the ukrainians because winter and that will just deepen the misery of a people facing winter without enough light or heat. Not only will it cause more misery but it can also kill people if it gets cold enough so the government said to minimize electricity use from 7 a.m. to 11 pm. This is also followed with russia has been sending missile strikes against utility plants across the nation for the past 10 days. The ukrainian military needs to do something about this because if not and it be a cold winter as it says, pretty soon they’re may not be much of a nation to defend.

Twinkies

Description: after receiving a twinkie in class I have learned that they are very squishy and my finger kinda sticks to it when squeezing it. when removed from the wrapper it leaves a very greasy film that sticks to you finger and all over the place. and since the twinkies were banana flavored before consuming the sponge cake it smells just like a banana which is concerning in regards of all the chemicals that must be involved to make this. After taking the first bite the sponge cake is very moist and soft. and it taste exactly like a banana which is again concerning because it says on the box that they are artificially flavored. and after eating one It made me very parched and craving water

did in class later found that it was never published

Morningside Needs to change the eating options on campus

Being in college is a difficult task. Stereotypically, most students are broke and do not have a job or any money to eat except for what the school provides in their meal plan. A common complaint among students is Morningside should make more on-campus food options due to dissatisfaction with what is currently available.

The most common complaint is that the food is bland, unappealing, and does not taste good. With the complaints, it was noticed that many of the approximately 1600 students on campus would choose not to eat on campus or not to eat at all. Therefore, Morningside needs to bring more tasty food options, such as diffmnmbhjerent chain restaurants or local businesses. They can also create a system to eat at the on-campus restaurants or create more options, similar to prominent universities.w3e

Big campuses like state schools and universities have multiple options to eat on or around campus and the school’s own cafes and restaurants. Alternatively, the school can make a system where college students and faculty can swipe their cards at local restaurants. The restaurants will likely be on board with that option because it brings in more of their target audience. It will also bring in more business to the restaurant. Morningside could even talk to local restaurants about a discount card for students to use at different restaurants for either discount items on the menu or even a free item or two. This will make the student body and staff much happier and be willing to remain on campus. Because of the money the school invests in the appearance of the school, they need to equally invest in the school food options to make the students happy and want to stay. Nevertheless, they did not just stay around campus but also wanted to return to Morningside. If you look online, the university only has a 52% graduation rate, which is not a success rate for a university. While there is not a list of reasons why it is so low, student satisfaction is easy to theorize as a reason. Satisfaction with all parts of the campus can very well include the food options.

The first person I interviewed was Jake Evens. Jake is a senior, still lives on campus, and has been eating at the cafeteria and cafe for four years. When asked if he currently likes the cafe food, he laughed and said no. So he was followed up with how often he eats at the cafe vs. how often he eats out, and he said he eats they’re about the same amount. He eats there two times a week and eats out about two times a week.

Furthermore, he said that they needed to make more food options on campus, which was my next question, so the last question had to be replaced, and then I asked him what he would prefer the campus add for food. He said wings because whenever he eats out, he always gets wings. He suggested more options to the menu based on his preference.

The second person I interviewed was Michelle, an exchange student from Sweden, and she was not thrilled with the cafe food. When interviewed and asked if she liked the cafe food, she made a face and said, “you are joking, right.” Of course, I already knew the answer, which was no. She said she eats at the cafe three times a day and never goes out to eat. When asked what Morningside could do to add more attractive options, she suggested that they bring in more pizza, not overcook the vegetables, more sweet potatoes, and sometimes have sushi and some omelet in the mornings. Finally, when asked what Morningside could do to improve eating on campus, she said, “the food here is fine. There are options; however, it is super repetitive and becomes boring.” It is evident that some students would like a change in the variety of food they eat daily.

Finally, the final person I interviewed is a recent graduate from Morningside, Kristene Honomichle. She is now a student at Dordt, but she went to Morningside for four years. When asked about her time here and the food she ate on campus, she also did not like the cafe food. She said she could only bring herself to eat there two times a week. This is because it was so bad there that she ultimately got a job and began eating alone. After all, it was cheap, and she treated herself to eating out once a week. When asked if Morningside should add more eating options, she said, “is that even a question? If they were to bring more things like Qdoba or Buffalo Wild Wings on campus, they would have so many customers”. Furthermore, since the school will not do that, she was asked what Morningside could do to improve eating on campus. She boldly responded, “Morningside needs to terminate their contract with Sodexo and stop just throwing meals together, and everyone would be happy.”

The interviews revealed that Morningside struck out three-for-three with unhappy students. A simple fix on the campus of bringing more local food options can provide improved variety, taste, and satisfaction amongst students and staff. This change can also support the surrounding community by generating revenue and providing everyone with more options.

Family of 4 found dead in California na6

Recently the search has been on for a family for kidnapped in California. It was Wednesday when police found their bodies at a farm. The family was missing for two days and had said to have been kidnapped by a man armed with a gun and force into his truck. Police took into custody so when they think may be the killer. However it says it is unclear at this time. They are asking for anyone who has cameras any store gas station etc. to check the cameras and help the police. Two of the victims have their hands tied behind their backs and I can point the gun and put them in the back of the truck. The hardest part for the police is that they have no motivation behind the killings. And they cannot find any evidence to book him. The only evidence that they have is an ATM card of the victims was use after the family got kidnapped.

This just proves that even when you’re out with your family and at the safest, in today’s day and age you’re not. This proves that things need to change because this could just be a start. For all we know this could be a start of a new trend for killers of taking whole families and killing them and dumping them in a field. this is when a community needs to come together and find the killer before another family is taken next. This is also on the police and the justice system because the alleged man who did this was charged with armed robbery and acted alone and got released in 2015. along with that previously knew the man but if he wasn’t released from prison this family may be alive still. Although it is known that the justice system is messed up some people should still not be let out.

The Pastor Andy interview

Today we got the honor as a class to interview Pastor Andy, and he has been the pastor chaplain for Morningside University since 2017-18. And as a chaplain here at Morningside, his job is “to tend the spiritual life to the Morningside Community”. Whether your faith is important to you or not, he is here to help regardless of the religion, and if you don’t believe in a higher power, he can help you connect with one. Along with his work, he makes sure to make the community a place where anyone can freely express themselves as they please. As a Chaplain, it is obvious he is a firm believer in the 1st amendment. The reason being that the First Amendment stated that Congress can make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting its free exercise. It protects freedom of speech, and the press. With that being said, it was stated also that he has an open door policy, where between the hours of 9am to 4pm you are free whenever to stop in and talk to him, as long as he isn’t in talk with anyone else.

Pastor Andy is from small town Minnesota with about 15,000 people called Redwing. Both his parents teach at the local schools, and that’s where he went for every level of grade school till graduating and going to college. Pastor Andy went to a small liberal arts college called Luther College, where he later studied religion and political science. It was pretty obvious he really loved religion. He even stated that growing up he was “engaged in the church and began leading the church at a young age”. With that, after graduating college, his first seminary meeting was in St. Paul, where he later graduated and began his internship at St Olaf. After that, he met his soon to be wife, who is a Psychology professor, and got a job here at Morningside. While her first few years of teaching here, he was a chaplain up in Vermilion at the college up there. When he heard that there was an opening for him close to home, he was very quick to jump on it and to apply. After getting the job, he quickly went to work, but he can’t do everything, and when asked what he would like to change around here, he said he “wants to get a time where the community would gather around”. Meaning he would like to get the community together more and as one.

Target Stockholder Report

throughout these past couple years through covid and the aftermath of covid target was able to thrive and acell with these lows in mankind, like it was explained through the 2021 financial report the CEO stated that “In that time, we’ve grown by tens of billions of dollars, through 19-consecutive quarters of comp-store growth, including 11-straight quarters of growth that preceded COVID-19”. This statement is just mind blowing that they were able to stay afloat during this historical event. A pandemic that decimated businesses large and small, and they didn’t just keep the company afloat they also kept their employees and their families afloat and comfortable financially. This was shown by the ceo saying “we’ve invested more than ever in our team members and their families, contributed to meaningful gains in diversity, equity and inclusion, and organized significant resources through Target Forward to support environmental and social sustainability for the decades ahead”. With this stated it shows that target isn’t just about making money but it’s also very family oriented. And If that gets known to the general public it can be very good for target and might draw in more people since they’re known to give back heavily to their employees and public.
