by Maggie Ganley– Morningside Activities Council (MAC) recently went through a change in executive officers.
The new executive board consists of President Tori Anderson, Vice President Suzanne Ras, Public Relations Officer Sterling Stecker, and Secretary Sydney Palmer.
Every office had at least two people running for the position, making the executives excited and grateful to be in their new executive roles.
All of the new executives are eager to hear what students on campus have to say about MAC events, and to cater to the events students want to see.
Anderson said she’s personally motivated by hearing people talk about how much they enjoy MAC events, which is part of the reason she decided to run for president.
In addition to continuing what they know is successful, such as Funny Fridays and Midnight Movies, each executive has goals for what they would like to bring to their position and to MAC in general.
Stecker hopes to promote the MAC calendar that’s on MySide so students know where to look for upcoming MAC events. Ras would like to see events held in conjunction with sporting events on campus to bring in new crowds. Anderson wants to continue to make MAC council members feel involved in meetings. And Palmer has some new ideas for events to be held during the lunch hour.
The executives love MAC and view it as a way to build a community on campus, especially for those that aren’t involved in sports, music, or theater. Many of them met their friends through MAC and are very passionate about the organization.
“I truly believe that joining MAC was one of the best things I’ve done in my college career. I have made many friends through MAC and want to continue providing the same opportunities for others. I love being part of an organization that gives students the chance to take part in activities and events that they normally wouldn’t be able to,” Ras said.
Although all of the officers are involved with other activities on campus, they view MAC as a vital part of their lives and wouldn’t have it any other way.
