A ‘thank you’ never hurt anyone

thank-you-post-itBy Jenni Beaver–Even though it can feel like teachers are out to destroy our GPAs, there are many across campus who care deeply for students.

They’re the teachers who stare at the red circles on test papers and wonder where they went wrong. They extend their office hours to reach the students who need extra help. They bring bagels and donuts to their finals period, because they’re not oblivious to their students’ skyrocketing stress levels. They even make sure the department candy jar is stocked with everyone’s favorite sweets.

There are two ladies who work at the Spoonholder every day. They always have a smile on their faces, and they often act as a sounding board for the stressed, sleep-deprived, and anxious. Students walk up to the counter, order their coffee, and when it’s in their hands they walk away.

Sometimes we’re too caught up in our own problems to say a simple ‘thank you.’ As the fall semester comes to a close, send an email to your favorite professor. Let them know you appreciate the time they put in to grading your work and teaching the class.

Even though they do it every day, a ‘thank you’ every now and then never hurt anyone. Stop. Take a look around you. Shake hands with some of the unsung heroes.
