Tietz breaks 1,000 points in win

By Gabi French–Jessica Tietz reached a huge accomplishment in her basketball career, breaking the 1000-point mark to help the Mustangs get another GPAC victory against Nebraska Wesleyan.

Tietz led the Mustangs with 14 points to help them pick up another GPAC win where they beat the Prairie Wolves 91-57.

“It was an exciting experience for me and my team.” Jessica was all smiles after the win and accomplishing her 1000-points.

It was the Mustangs’ first game since last Wednesday when the they lost to Northwestern 72-65 to end a 48-game regular season winning streak which dated back to the 2013-2014 season.

The Mustangs held the Prairie Wolves to a shooting percentage of 34.6 for the game. Tietz and Allison Bachman, another senior, each had 14 points. Lexi Ackerman and Jordyn Wollenburg each had 11 points. Aside from Jessica’s 14 points, she rebounded career-high 11 rebounds to lead to her first double double.

Ackerman had the strong hand for the Mustangs where she dealt game-high seven assists to match the Prairie Wolves entire total of assists. Ackerman also led the Mustangs with three steals.

Morningside moved to 9-1 overall and 4-1 in the GPAC. The Mustangs will travel the men’s team to Hastings on Saturday, December 12, for a 2 pm match up against the third-ranked Broncos.
