By Dominique Swanson—The annual Omicron Delta Kappa Honor’s Convocation will be held in Eppley Auditorium at 11:45am on Wednesday April 8th.
ODK is a national leadership honor society that is 100 years old. Over 285 colleges and universities are active in this organization that aims to develop leaders.
Each year the Convocation Ceremony is used to induct the new members into the Honor’s society and recognize various department awards including honoring certain students from each department who excel in their area.
Faculty from the specific departments chooses the criteria on which the students are evaluated to receive the award. Also being awarded is the Tommeraasen Award, which recognizes a group on campus for their outstanding work in a variety of fields.
This event is entirely student organized and this year the ceremony is being put together by Vice Presidents Nick Misukanis and Josh Karel.
Misukanis explained their duties in preparing for this event stating, “We had to draft the date, contact the different departments, and make sure it all came together, which hopefully it will.”
Karel remarked, “Our committee has put so much work into this event and it’s amazing what a group of students who work together can achieve.”
Misukanis concluded saying, “I’m quite excited with all the effort we have put into it and hope a lot of people show up!”
This ceremony is a wonderful chance for the different departments to showcase what they are doing and recognize those students working to excel.
