By Taylor Pluim—Fuji Bay is a Japanese restaurant located in downtown Sioux City on 513 6th Street. It is a more traditional restaurant serving authentic Japanese dishes like octopus and other sushi.
Fuji Bay doesn’t have much to offer as far as luxury goes. It is a small hole-in-the-wall type restaurant with the front being the only place to offer natural light. But it does have some delicious food to offer, which is where the true experience comes from anyway. I tried the California rolls, which is sushi wrapped in rice. It was very delicious. There were also ginger and other sauces that were available to try with it. I did not try anything too extreme though, like the octopus. But you do not have to necessarily enjoy food like that to enjoy this place, but you do need to be open to trying new things.
The prices are a little bit on the expensive side though, depending on what you get. The 10 California rolls I got were about $10. However, that was on the cheaper side and wasn’t exactly a meal. Most meals are going to be at least $15-$20 dollars and up. So if you are a college student that doesn’t have a lot of money, this would be the type of place for a special occasion or a romantic dinner.
Overall I would say I liked this place, it is definitely a place you should try at least once if you are interested in trying new things. But if you are totally opposed to seafood and the idea of eating raw fish, then I would not recommend this place for you. But if you are tired of eating at all the same places, I think you should try this place.
