By Kayla Samek—Students addicted to the Trivia Crack App can experience a trivia game in real life, every other Thursday at 9 pm in the Mustang Grill.
The night consists of six rounds with about six questions each. The questions vary from current events to name-the-song. Teams comprise of up to six students who compete for either $10 in flex points or a $10 gift card to the bookstore.
Sam Clary, director of the wellness initiative, started Trivia Night as part of an effort to increase intellectual wellness; it’s “a fun way to take a break from homework while still thinking” said Clary.
The event was started during the fall semester of 2014, but turnouts have been consistent. Clary would like to see more teams compete as word spreads around campus. Students have expressed enthusiasm with the activity.
Alex Sullivan has attended two Trivia nights and is planning on attending regularly because she likes “working as a team to guess answers and possibly win prizes” said Sullivan.
Trivia Night is a social and learning opportunity for students—plus, there are prizes! So while the crowds have been small, the draw of the event may start to attract many different types of students in the near future. The competition is going to be fierce!
