10 things to know

Students in Dave Madsen’s Passport class read the essay “The Freshman Year Thrill Ride.” In the essay, the authors shared their experiences of their first year at college.

The students in Madsen’s class then came up with their own list of “Ten Things to Know When You Come to Morningside College”:

1)      Cancelled classes mean more sleep

2)      Sweats and sweatshirts become your new wardrobe

3)      Water is a necessary component of making Ramen Noodles and mac-n-cheese

4)      Adam Levine may have used all of his change at a payphone, but I’ve used all of mine doing laundry

5)      At 11 o’clock on weekend nights, everyone walks around with water bottles for “exercise” and backpacks for “studying.”

6)      La Juas and Taco Bell are the only acceptable food options after 1a.m.

7)      You lock yourself out of your room at the most peculiar times.

8)      If you go a week without hitting your head on something in your dorm, it’s a damn good week.

9)      Set 2 or 3 alarms in the morning to make sure the beast has awoken

10)   Don’t get caught. That’s all we can say.
