By Jesus Jimenez — Morningside’s cheer team achieved its two highest scores of the season this weekend at Northwestern College’s two-day cheer and dance invitational. The Mustangs secured third and fourth place finishes, delivering a total 155.28 points.
What took everyone by surprise was Morningside’s flawless, deduction-free routine on day one, where the squad scored an impressive 77.37 points. However, they weren’t finished; the Mustangs came back even stronger on day two, achieving a score of 77.92 points, despite a small quarter-point deduction.
Looking ahead, Morningside cheer will return to the mat this Saturday at Dordt University, before gearing up for the conference championship at Concordia in early March.
