Homecoming events continue through the weekend

Morningside’s homecoming festivities continue through Sunday.

Friday night (Oct. 11) the Morningside University School of Visual and Performing Arts will feature performances by The Morningside Choir, Morningside Wind Ensemble, and M Avenue Jazz beginning at 7 pm. The program will also recognize CODA Award recipients Paul Adamson, Dr. Kathryn March, and bill russell.

Saturday, Oct. 12, M Club Hall of Fame inductees will be honored at 10 am in the Yockey Family Community Room. This year’s class includes Mike McCune, Janel (Gillies) Bennett, Mackenzie Neely, Danny Rudeen, and Kyle Schuck. Jim Carver will also be honored as the 2024 Alumni Coach of the Year.

The Homecoming football game features the No. 9-ranked Mustangs hosting Hastings at 1:30 pm at Elwood Olsen Stadium. 

Immediately after the game until 7:30 pm, Morningside hosts its annual Taste of Morningside event around the Mason Family Tennis Complex. Vendors confirmed to participate include Patti’s Pit Stop, Brightside, Smash, Jerry’s Pizza, Taqueria El Buen Gusto, Benny’s Dogs, Tastee’s Inn & Out, Bob Roe’s, Palmer Candy Company, and Hardline Coffee Co.

On Sunday, Oct. 13, the Morningside community is invited to Homecoming Worship at 10:00 am in Eppley Auditorium. Worship this year includes the gift of music from the Cantabile & Camerata choirs, as well as reflections, scripture readings, and sanctuary art from Morningside students.
