Morningside’s rally fell short in a 48–45 loss to Benedictine in the season opener.
Behind 21–3 after the first 12 minutes, Morningside (no. 10) battled back to take a 45–41 lead over Benedictine with 3:31 on the clock. The rally fell short, however, as the Ravens struck back, and the Mustangs’ final drive fell short at the 1–yard line.
Morningside will next be at Concordia Sept. 7. The Bulldogs topped Waldorf University 45–7 in their season debut.
