by Diego Teixeira Setton–It’s no lie that weather in Sioux City Is not the best, but this felt like a sick joke.
Students hoping to catch a glimpse of the once–in–a–generation event Monday were met with nothing but gray skies.
As I prepared to try and watch the eclipse today, I didn’t see many students looking up at the sky. Maybe the occasional person or two, but everyone seemed pretty indifferent as there was nothing to look at up in the sky.
I insisted for around an hour, as I sat outside with my head up, hoping I could get a glimpse of the eclipse. I had a camera with me, but there was nothing to take pictures of.
My persistence ended up rewarding me twice, when a small hole in the clouds allowed me to barely see the sun for no more than 2 seconds. Even if only a small taste of what was really happening, it felt a bit special to look at.
Who knows when my next chance will be to watch a solar eclipse, so I wanted to make the best of what I had.
Overall, people in Sioux City were met with a pretty disappointing eclipse day, in an unlucky turn of events that in all honesty, I wasn’t really surprised by.
