Musketeers peaking at the right time

Dylan James

by Bryce Griffin–The playoff-bound Sioux City Musketeers are currently the hottest team in the United States Hockey League after dismantling the Lincoln Stars and Sioux Falls Stampede this past weekend.

The Musketeers were down 4-1 to the Stars Friday, April 1, but mounted a comeback with six unanswered goals and a 4-goal game by Dylan James, USHL Forward of the Week.

Sioux City continued its winning ways and extended their win streak to nine and point streak to 11 after heading to Lincoln, Nebraska, to defeat the Stars for the second straight night and then returning home to take care of the Sioux Falls Stampede in a crushing 8-1 victory.

The Musketeers have won 21 of their last 26 games and James scored seven of the Musketeers’ 20 goals this past weekend along with 2 assists. James, a native of Canada, has now entered the USHL’s top 25 in scoring this season. Not only that but James is also only a rookie in the USHL. The North Dakota commit is the youngest verbal commit in the history of North Dakota Hockey.

James said, “It was a team game, one was a deflection and another came off the backboards and the others were 2 on 1’s with a pass from Shimmy (Bennett Schimek)”.

The Musketeers currently sit in second place in the Western Conference only behind the Tri-City Storm, which they will face this weekend in a 3–game series in Kearney, Nebraska. The Musketeers regular season will end with Omaha on Saturday, April 23 at 6:05 P.M. in the Tyson Events Center.
