Golfers enjoy simulation

by Chloe Krommendyk–The Morningside Golf Team is blessed this year to have received many large donations.

One of those granted the team a brand new $30,000 simulator/launch monitor in the golf room. The team and coaches together were able to take out the old simulator and replace it with the brand new one at the end of this year’s fall golf season.

This simulator is located in one of the old racquetball courts in the HPER, where the golf team spends much of their time practicing during the winter months when they are unable to play outdoors.

The simulator is meant only for the Morningside team and coaches, and it is almost constantly being used, as it is a luxury for the team to have. Coach Wandersheid stated this is “the best launch monitor/simulator system on the market”, and that he plans to keep it in good condition so that it can last the team a very long time.

Junior women’s golfer Kennedy Mason said, “The new simulator makes me want to practice more. The simulator allows me to hit shots both on a range and on multiple different courses that are programmed in.”

Overall, both the men’s and women’s golf teams are excited about this new advancement and hope that it will help the team continue to improve over the off-season.
