by Chloe Krommendyk–The Morningside Dance Team was able to compete nationally in the 2022 NAIA Competitive Dance Championship in Ypsilanti, Michigan this past weekend at the George Gervin GameAbove Center.
The team posted the highest score ever recorded in the NAIA Dance Championship, making them National champions for the school’s first time.
The Mustangs’ winning score was 0.93 points higher than the previous high score by Midland. This year they were able to beat St. Ambrose University as well as Midland University, the only two teams that have won the previous 5 years.
On Sunday, March 13 the Dance Team made their way back to campus where they were greeted in front of Rosen Verdoorn by many excited mustang fans.
The team was excited to celebrate their first national championship and history-making score on Wednesday, March 16, at noon in the Yockey Family Community Room. The team and Head Coach Alisha Knowler share stories and gratitude of their experiences at Nationals.
