Some sites for your summer amusement

by Hailey Barrus–As the semester dwindles away, and students head in to take their final exams, summer inches closer and closer.

If you’re a Morningside student looking to stay around Sioux City this summer there are a few key locations that you may want to check out.

“During the warmer months I feel like I live out at Bacon Creek. I often will grab lunch with friends and take it to the lake, or go out there to walk the many trails during the summer,” says senior Sadie Meyerink.

Many other students follow after Meyerink when it comes to enjoying Bacon Creek’s nature during the summer. Bacon Creek is equipped with a dog park, pond and fishing area, biking and hiking trails, as well as large grass areas where people often picnic and play yard games.

Another adventurous location around Siouxland is Stone Park.

“Since the weather has been warming up recently I have gone to Stone Park quite a few times to hike. I always see some sort of wildlife and it really helps take away the stress of school,” said Noah Rubida, Morningside senior.

Stone Park is located in the North part of Sioux City just past the Riverside area.

Apart from hiking trails and parks there are a few staple places to grab a bite to eat this summer. As the warmer months creep in the outdoor patio of Martos Brewing Company will be packed with younger people stopping to get pizza and a cold beverage. Martos is located in downtown Sioux City near popular bars and other restaurants that many college students utilize.
