The whole Morningside College family is working together to help out the three students who were affected by this tragedy. The college is collecting both cash (online) and gift card donations to help get these students back on their feet.

Pastor Nelson has taken on the responsibility of being these students’ one point of contact. The college is trying to keep things organized and not overwhelming the affected students.

Pastor Nelson’s main goal is to make sure their material needs are met, as well as their emotional and spiritual needs. Nelson said, “These situations touch everybody, people try to put themselves in the shoes of those who were affected.”

The college has also been able to give these students meals from the cafeteria, even though they do not have a meal plan because they were living off campus.

General Manager of Food Service at Morningside, Kevin Paul-Van Os said, “We’re trying to help out to make sure those affected don’t have to worry about where their next meal is coming from until they can get back on their feet.”
