Media Comparison

This week there was a shooting in a St. Louis High School.

The news article that comes from the Associated Press outlines what was going on the school. The press article focuses more on the vents laying out what happened that day and what they were doing inside the building at the time of the shooting.

The video that is from CNN covers the events unfolding. They show the students at a location meeting with their parents, and they start showing the police presence as it is still and active scene. They also covered a little bit of the event so what went on like what time, and what was going on as did the associated press article

The video doesn’t really have a lead. They start with a question of what is going on. In the article they start with talking about the armed assailant who as a former student. The Article from AP has a photo they use at the beginning of their article which has two African American girls crying. In the video they use video footage of the scene and kids being reunited with their families. I think the video does a better thing of showing what was going on as they are showing more of the scene.

The most interesting part of both is that they were both published on the same day and article has more of a description of what happened. They go further into talking about the victims. In the video since the time is only a minute seven seconds, they can’t really share all that info, but they do however share the most important details of what is going on. They are more or else giving the public a preview of the event and the article is the description of what really happened.
