Aaron Judge, New York Yankees star, just tied the American league record for most home runs in a season. This record was previously held by Roger Maris.

Aaron did the record faster than Roger, while he also went to 60 home runs faster than one of the biggest yankee legends, Babe Ruth.

Sinay Deaz was asked today about who her favorite professor here at Morningside is, and who answer did not disappoint. “My favorite teacher here got to be Dan, I mean Dan is the man, right?” Dan Wubbena professor in the business department and he is loved by many students on the campus.

Sinay, who is usually a quiet person said this about Dan, “Sometimes in class I can be shy, but he can try to get everyone’s opinion.” Dan is the king of getting everyone to speak in his class, and Sinay loves that about his teaching philosophy.

One of Sinay’s favorite moments about Dan is when he let her do a Tik Tok dance, instead of giving a speech to the class her freshman year. Dan let her lead a Tik Tok dance with the rest of the class to show his daughter. In exchange of doing the Tik Tok dance, the class did not have to say the speeches and got an automatic A. “The best part about this, was that he did not offer this to any other class, just our class, so all the other classes were so mad.”

Boston Celtics head coach, Ime Udoka, is suspended for the whole 2022-2023 NBA season.

Udoka was involved in a sexual scandal involving a member of the Boston Celtics staff. This went against strict organizational guidelines and forced the organization to suspend him for the whole season.

Udoka led the Celtics to the NBA Finals last year, while it being the first year of his coaching stint. His leadership with the team brought them to a place no one expected for them to be last year.

With this suspension, Udoka future with the organization is in jeopardy. This suspension is affective immediately.

The queen first took to the throne in 1952, where she was the longest reigning monarch England leader. She has lived through World War II, Hitler’s reign, and has met 13 US presidents. With a troubled history, people learned to love the queen and everything she has done throughout her tenure as Queen of England.

The royal family was hit hard by the news but knew this death would come. Her son King Charles said this about the death of the Queen, “moment of great sadness” for him and his family and that her loss would be “deeply felt” around the world, CNN reported. The new heir to the throne will be prince William, her grandson. 

The death of the Queen hot everyone hard, but some rejoiced about the Queens death. Some groups thought the Queens history of violence and colonists. People of color were really rejoicing, especially on twitter where they took to twitter celebrating the death. Brea Baker reported, “During her lifetime, Queen Elizabeth II maintained all of the remnants of colonization, from the diamonds that she wore to the wealth she exhibited.”

Another group affected by the Queens death was the Irish people. Irish and the English going back many days have had a feud, due to the potato famine. Although of the feud between the Irish and the English, the new King Charles plans on trying to restore relations with Ireland. Time reports that King Charles said he will “seek the welfare of all inhabitants” of Northern Ireland.

 Not just people were affected by the Queens death. Multiple English Premiere League games were rescheduled to reflect the Queens death. All games between September 9-11 were postponed due to the death and the funeral.

The funeral took place September 8, 2022. Even if the Queen had a good or bad impact on society, the death defiantly took the world by storm.

I interviewed two people that were sitting at the Morningside M in the middle of campus. The names were Hannah and Anders, and they were very excited when I asked them if I could interview them.

I first asked Anders for a restaurant recommendation, and he gave me a recommendation from his home country in Denmark. The name of the restaurant is called Trio in København. He quoted this restaurant by saying, “Never be a simp, Always be a pimp.” I asked him what this means in regards of the restaurant, and he responded that just a quote that I live by.

After this interview, I asked Hannah to draw me a doodle. Hannah drew me a Christmas tree with presents by the tree. I asked her why she drew this and she responded, “Can’t wait for Christmas.” With a smile beaming from ear to ear with this response, you could tell she was looking forward to Christmas.

Emoni Bates, former high school basketball star, has been arrested for having a gun in the vehicle he was driving.

Emoni got stopped by the police for a regular traffic stop where they found the gun in his car. Emoni could face up to five years in prison. His lawyer is claiming the gun was someone else’s, while emoji was just borrowing the car. The trial is set for October 6th.

Five people killed in a plane crash at Kennedy International Airport. 45 passengers and crew members were aboard this flight.

Among these passengers were two Backwater State University professors, John Dumont  and George Johnson. These two were both coming from a conference in New York City, and both professors left the crash uninjured.

In recent interview, Brett Yormark, the Big 12 commissioner, was pretty clear cut on where he wants to take the Big 12 in upcoming years.

He plans on pursuing teams in the Pac 12, really looking into teams that will be able to put their conference in the fourth time zone. With Pac 12 losses of powerhouse schools, UCLA and USC, the Pac 12 will be under some heat, and he believes he can take advantage of that.

The Big 12 looks on to bring the best basketball and football teams to their conference, and they believe they can do that with some schools in the Pac 12.
