The story I picked for this week is about Chicago Bears’ head coach Matt Nagy naming rookie quarterback Justin Fields as the starter. This is big news considering Nagy had been strict in his ways of keeping Andy Dalton as the starting quarterback after signing him this past offseason. After Dalton left with an injury in the Bears’ week 2 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Fields has assumed the starting role and now hopes to never look back. This is a big move for a head coach that is currently on the hot seat to be fired, a move that Nagy hopes can turn fans’ opinion of him around.
Though I do think it is a great hook sentence, the lead of this story leaves much to be desired information wise. The information is quickly brought up in the second sentence of the story, but as for the true lead it is not good. I think this story is a well done inverted pyramid giving the most important information of who is the new starting quarterback and why at the top, then supports the information with many quotes from Nagy himself as the story goes on. I believe the information towards the middle and end of the story could have been slightly better organized, but overall I found the article to be well written and interesting.
