Greek Week Recap

By Rachael Arnts–Last week, Alpha Omicron Pi put their trivia knowledge to the test and came out on top for Greek Week.

Alpha Omicron Pi (AOPi), Phi Mu Sinfonia, and ACACIA were the three Greek groups that competed against each other in multiple activities last week for Greek Week. Alpha Omicron Pi is a women’s fraternity and the other two are traditional fraternities.

“Greek Week is a week long competition between the fraternities and sororities on a campus,” explains second year AOPi member Erica Young.

Most colleges and universities have Greek Life and celebrate their own special week.

“I am not sure if every college had their Greek Week last week, but it is usually a spring event so that fall initiates and spring recruits can join in on the activities,” Young adds.

The competitions are always themed. This year’s theme was “Game Shows”. The games included Family Feud, Cash Cab, Singing Bee, and Minute to Win It. The groups gathered each evening to compete in that night’s game.

Each night the totals are combined together, and this year the women prevailed as the winners. Last year the competitions were more physical, like pushing a car.

Alpha Omicron Pi declared that they are more brain and less brawn by winning the trivia games this year.

Professor Richard Yates is the head advisor for Greek Council.
