Sioux City Bans hand-held radar guns

Yesterday, the East Dakota Highway patrol banned the use of hand held radar guns in Sioux City, Iowa. The reason behind such ban is due to the risk of troopers developing cancer of longterm exposure from these radars. There are currently studies going to over the radition that emitted from these guns and if they can be connected to cancer.

The East Dakota Highway Patrol is doing this as a precaitionary action but this will remove 70 radar guns from the area. Although the Patrol will not have these guns there is still radar units on the outside of their cars allowing them to see the speed of cars.

The East Dakota Patrol is choosing to be on side of caution until is more information is found out about the issue. Some day we may see these 70 radars back in action on the Sioux City Streets.
