Zach Olson

Zach Olson is a 19-year-old sophomore here at Morningside University. He is originally from Omaha, Nebraska where he was born and raised. Zach attended Millard West High school and graduated in 2020. Zach grew up in a more traditional family household with one older sibling and both parents. His mother works for Nebraska Methodist and his father is an independent contractor. Zach always had a passion for sports which is one of the reasons he chose to come to Morningside University.
Zach came to Morningside for many reasons and so far has had a great experience through his first year. One of the reasons he came to Morningside is because he had a lot of friends who he played with also coming here. This is a huge reason why his time at Morningside has been so good. Another reason he came to Morningside was he felt like it was the right fit for him due to the culture of the school and more specifically the basketball program. After his freshman year, he decided it was time to step away from playing basketball, and now he is stepping into a new position as a student coach.
Zach’s passion for sports has led him to be a big college sports fan. He grew up watching Iowa Football and Creighton Basketball. He grew up at a perfect time in Creighton Basketball history as he got to watch Doug Mcdermott, who is one of the best players to ever go to Creighton. Zach had this to say about Doug, “He made a lot of threes, had a lot of energy, and I overall wanted to base my style of play off of him. This was because I really respected the way he played and his work ethic.” Zach’s passion for sports is a big part of who he is as a person.
