With a 51-7 win over Tabor, Morningside advanced to the semi-finals of the NAIA Football Championship Series. Morningside refused to give up against the equally resilient St. Xavier University Cougars. The Mustangs eventually won the first round NAIA Playoff Series game 75-69 in four overtimes.
