by Mitch Kellogg–The Mustangs are two games into their season (2-0), recently dismantling Tabor College and setting records in the process. The rest of the country caught up with the kickoff of the college season this past weekend, and the NFL season kicking off this up coming weekend.
It’s that time of year again!
This is always an exciting time of year, with tailgates and fans arguing why their team is better than the others. If the opening weekend told us anything, it’s that this year will not disappoint. We already had the biggest spread upset in college football history with the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) losing to Howard University despite UNLV being favored to win by more than 40 points. To add insult to injury, they paid Howard $600,000 just to play them.
Then on Sunday we had a comeback of the year candidate as the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) came back from a 44-10 deficit. They tied the game with a play not commonly seen as quarterback Josh Rosen pretended to spike the football to stop the clock and proceeded to hit his receiver in the end zone.
If this kind of excitement can last all season then their will be no shortage of close games this Fall. We hope our Mustangs will continue their tradition of winning this season and that fans will enjoy their games as well. All we can hope for now is that the NFL season will follow suit and be just as exciting.
