Not-So-Super Commercials

By Andrew Schnebel–A record 111.5 million people tuned in to Sundays 48th Super Bowl between the Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos. Some of those viewers were tuning in for something other than the game, however. Those viewers tuned in for one thing and one thing only: the commercials. This is always the most anticipated part of Super Bowl Sunday, besides the game.

But with anticipation, comes disappointment, as many people were not impressed with this year’s set of commercials. Many of the companies who bought their 30 second spot for $4 million, didn’t really impress.

Even with people being majorly disappointed there still were some commercials that weren’t too bad. Here is the recap of some of the top commercials:

Radio Shack, “The Phone Call”

This commercial was right up there for one of the better commercials on the night. It was very creative and brought back some old 80’s characters saying they want their store back. This could turn out to benefit Radio Shack, since not too many people still knew they existed. They showed that the store has been updated with all the new technology and its out with the old and in with the new.

Budweiser’s “Puppy Love”

This Budweiser commercial was leaked early before the Super Bowl, and was an instant hit. The commercial was full of everything and was for your horse, puppy and beer lovers. There was not much wrong with this commercial at all, which is probably why it worked out so well.

Hyundai Genesis: ‘Dad’s Sixth Sense’

The Hyundai Genesis commercial was an interesting one that had a lot of creativity to it. Now does it make you want to buy a Genesis, maybe not, but it sure did have quite a bit of creativity in it. It was a nice target to those parents looking for a safe car for their son or daughter to drive.
