Bundle up for Disney’s Frozen

frozenBy Amber Burg–Join Anna, Kristoff, Sven, and Olaf at the movie theatre for their frozen adventure to save the kingdom from a snowy cold.

Disney’s most recent animated film Frozen has been freeszing out the competition for over a month.

The main characters, Anna (voice of Kristen Bell) and her sister Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel), live in a castle in the kingdom of Arendelle. The sisters were once close but Elsa pulled away to protect Anna from her secret power. Elsa’s secret power of creating snow and ice becomes public at the dance and she runs for the mountains leaving Arendelle in a frozen state.

Anna sets out to find her leaving her supposed “future husband” in charge of the kingdom. Up in the mountains she meets mountain man Kristoff (voice of Jonathan Groff), Kristoff’s reindeer Sven and the snowman Olaf (voice of Josh Gad). Together they set off to save Elsa and bring warmth back to Arendelle.

Overall Disney had a great lesson featured in the movie, unlike some of their past films like the Little Mermaid, whose storyline featured a girl changing for a man and trying to win him over with everything but her voice.

Frozen on the other hand had great lessons. Elsa says Anna cannot just marry a man she just met because it’s simply not done and they do not know each other enough. Later it goes on to finish that lesson with Anna’s intended, Hans (voice of Santino Fontana), betraying her and turning everyone against Elsa. It made her realize who her true friends were all along and that everything she was looking for was right in front of her.

This movie features a lot of singing. While some of the songs were adorable and catchy, others seem to repeat the same phrase over and over again. Most of the time the singing blends in, though, so it is not as noticeable or annoying. Overall it has some great songs like ‘Let It Go.’

It’s an all around great movie for all ages. It will have you singing along to the songs and cracking up with laughter as they venture out into the frozen land.
