By Meghanne Adams–With finals and Christmas break just under a month away, it is important for students to take time to just relax before the madness and stress begins.
Sometimes a change of scenery can help with taking a break from your regular schedule. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the area, here are a few places to eat and hangout that aren’t more than an hour away. Take a long afternoon or a weekend day and get out of town, away from school and try something new.
Carnaval Brazilian Grill – Sioux Falls, SD: This Brazilian restaurant is an amazing place to eat and a cultural experience as well. This is “not your average steakhouse” and offers a “Gaucho Meal.” This includes Churrasco roasted meats, cooked over an open fire that are brought right to your table and cut right off the skewer onto your plate. These meats include lamb, chicken, pork loin and ribs, beef, flank steak and can also include shrimp depending on the meal you pick. It is a fun experience and a relaxing environment. Be sure to go with an empty stomach because you can eat as much as you want.
Trattoria Fresca – South Sioux City, NE: Go ahead and skip the Olive Garden. This restaurant has unique and authentic flavors, and there is no feel of a chain restaurant to be found. Between the table cloths, the attentive staff and homemade food made from scratch, you’ll find it is cozy environment and well worth the drive over the bridge.
El Fredo Pizza- Sioux City, IA: Better than any chain pizza place and many Sioux City residents agree that this is the best pizza place in town. Just on the other side of Sioux City you’ll find this pizza place just off Hamilton Blvd. The sauce sets this place apart.
