By Ashleigh Starr, Student Advocate–
Morningside College Student Government Executives: President Kelci Teut, Vice-President Katie Schiltz, Treasurer Brendan Pinto, Secretary Jed McCoy, and Student Advocate Ashleigh Starr.

Student Gov’t started the school year off with a great success ranging from the activities fairs to campus-wide elections. Student Government received a lot of valuable input from a variety of students on campus with the suggestion box at the activities fairs, and they are currently working hard to ensure all suggestions are considered and discussed with the respective staff members.

Elections were very successful this year, with 27 petitions turned in and 501 students voting in the elections, resulting in 26 senator positions being filled. The 2011-2012 senators and their respective constituency that they representing are as follows: Dimmitt Representatives: Spencer Eiseman, Paul Johnson, James LaPointe, Paige McKern, and Nicole Ullman, Roadman Representatives: Evan Meinen, Drew Nolan, and Samson Ogungbile, Plex Representative: Cade Herrig, Apartment/Garretson Houses Representatives: Taylor Hatting and Adam Smith, Commuter Representatives: Kalene Anderson, Tanner Ferguson, Jordan Langley, Leann Osten, Caitlyn Skorczewski, Amy Widman, and Chelsi Wieseler, Freshmen Representatives: Jack O’Brien and Jordan Truckenmiller, Sophomore Representatives: Lynsay Haverland and Ryan Martinez, Junior Representatives: Nick Brincks and Clarissa Staton, and Senior Representatives: Cora Kugler and Mariah Stauffer.

Student Government meets every Tuesday night at 6:30 PM, so stop by and sit in on a meeting if you are interested in getting involved in the future or just want to see what is talked about at each meeting.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about any aspect of campus, feel free to contact any one of your constituencies, whether it is class or living environment, any of the executives, or drop off any suggestions into the suggestion box located outside of the student government office.
