Just by taking a stroll around campus, one can pick up on the latest comfy trend. Sweatpants tucked into boots. This atrocious “style” started from the jeans tucked into boots but, over time, morphed into something horrible. I’m no fashionista, so I surveyed some of the men of Morningside College to find out the reaction of the opposite sex.

“I think it looks tacky,” said Nick Brincks, sophomore.

Tacky. Something no self-respecting female wants to be. But the sweatpants tucked into boots trend is creating that response in men across campus.

In a different, although not entirely contrasting opinion, some guys think it looks acceptably casual.

“It looks comfortable. I’m pretty neutral on it. Obviously they aren’t trying to dress up if they are wearing sweatpants,” said Dakota Linafelter, freshman.

Looking comfortable isn’t a bad thing, but wouldn’t it be better to look great? Comfort is something that everyone needs every now and again, but for going out in public, maybe it would be best to stick with either sweatpants or boots. Both just seems like overkill.

“I don’t like it. It looks like they don’t even care,” said Evan Meinen, freshman.

So next time you go to pull out that old pair of sweatpants and worn in pair of boots, just think. This isn’t Dragon Ball Z, so at least try to opt for some tennis shoes instead.
