Women’s basketball golf outing June 7

by Chaise Pfanstiel–Morningside Women’s Basketball will host its 17th annual golf outing June 7, at the Green Valley Golf Course.

The women’s basketball team will host families, spectators, fans, and whoever else may want to golf that day as it is open to anyone. Each individual Mustang player is responsible for getting two-hole sponsors and two teams. A hole sponsor can be a business of any kind; all they need is $100 to contribute. Hole sponsors then get to join the fun and promote their business. There are at least 15 girls on the team, which helps rack up the money in the end.

“It’s always been a great way for our team to raise money and have a little fun at the same time”, head coach Jamie Sale said. “I always enjoy seeing who our girls can get out there and how they can promote themselves as a team.”

A team is made up of four people, and is $65 per person, or $260 in total for the group. Teams play 18 holes with a shotgun start. Following the games, the team will host a lunch with lots of food and drinks.

“Last year was my first year attending and helping find teams and sponsors. I honestly can say I had a lot of fun. I was worried it was going to be a lot of work, but in the end the effort that we did put in paid off. Literally. I am hoping for an even bigger turnout this year to help us raise money for our Puerto Rico trip in December,” sophomore Ella Wragge said.

The women’s basketball team has made links on their X, Instagram, Facebook, and main website for sign up opportunities and more information.
