by Diego Teixeira Setton–Morningside is hosting a student art show from February 26 to March 2. The exposition will be held in the Eppley Auditorium Art Gallery. It will be open from 8 am to 5 pm on weekdays to all public for free.
The exhibition features three different categories: studio art, photography and graphic design. While photography is self-explanatory, viewers can expect to find all sorts of paintings, drawings, sculptures and ceramics among other studio art entries. Graphic design includes animations, illustrations, logos, typography, etc.
The pieces were made in the last 12 months by Morningside students, who submitted and framed everything currently being presented.
The artworks are also eligible to receive awards, as they will be rated by a number of guests judges. The first, second, and third best–rated pieces in each category will be awarded $60, $45, and $30 respectively, with the best of show being awarded an extra $25.
A reception will be held Wednesday, March 20 from 3-4:30 pm, when at least one of the guest judges will announce the winners at 3:10 pm. Refreshments will be served, and the entirety of the event is free of charge.
More than anything, this is a great opportunity to see what type of projects students have been working on and rate them yourself.
