by Alexis Spier–Aidan Vanderloo needed nine points to reach the 1,000 point club prior to the game against Briar Cliff Wednesday, Nov. 29th at 7:45 p.m. He hit his first three three–point attempts within the first couple minutes of the Stangs’ 97-80 win over the Chargers.

Vanderloo finished the game with 16 points making all four three point attempts. He is now the third Mustang to hit 1,000 points this season, and all three players hit 1,000 points within a week of each other.

“I knew I only needed a few buckets to get to 1,000 points, but I didn’t let that change my game,” said Vanderloo. “As long as I shoot with confidence, my shots will fall, and after my first three fell I was feeling pretty confident.”

Seniors Ely Doble and Joey Skoff showed up ready to play with Doble having 29 points and Skoff having a career high 31 points. Doble was exceptional making ten out of eleven shot attempts and making all nine free throw attempts. He also added seven rebounds to his performance.

Skoff was phenomenal making ten out of sixteen shot attempts. He was 7-10 from beyond the arc and added four rebounds and two steals to his performance. Skoff is at #23 on the leader board in the NAIA averaging 22.0 points per game. Doble is right behind him at #26 averaging 21.7 points per game.

Junior Brendan Buckley led the Mustangs with nine rebounds and added six assists. Buckley has led the team in rebounds every game except against Kansas Wesleyan when Doble grabbed 14 rebounds. Buckley was the second leading rebounder in that game with six. Senior Jack Dotzler led the team in assists with eight and also grabbed five rebounds.

Coming off the bench was Junior Justin Sitti who contributed ten points, four steals, and six rebounds. Two of those baskets were dunks. Morningside shot 49.2% from the field in the first half and finished the game shooting 48.4%.

Morningside is 4-0 in the conference and have a complete record of 6-1. They have a week off before they take the long trip to North Dakota Wednesday, Dec. 6th to face the Jamestown Jimmies.
