Harris said, “Before the ceremony I was excited and happy to be there with fellow seniors who I have known throughout my years at Morningside. I had a lot of fun getting dressed up and taking pictures before the ceremony. Once I found out I was the new homecoming queen, I felt happily surprised but also grateful and honored that students here at Morningside voted for me.”

Students nominated seniors who attend Morningside University to become this year’s king and queen. The final nominees for Queen were Olivia Boudreau, Kayla Eilander, Payton Shoquist, Gaby Wilson, Hannah Harris, and Liz Zobel. The final nominees for King were Ridge Hoffman, Tyson King, Tom Moss, K.J Williams, Issac Pingel, and Chandler Todd.

The students mentioned above met in Eppley Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. October 3 for the crowning of the king and queen. Everyone was welcomed and encouraged to attend and come support their friends.

“It was honestly fun watching them have their moments to shine. Each one of those girls nominated have always been super sweet to me so seeing them up there made me feel proud and happy for them. Overall, I was very excited for both the males and females up there, and happy to see them happy going through their last year here”, junior Natalie Cloud stated.

Fellow nominee and best friend of the king K.J Williams, Ridge Hoffman, had some very kind words to say after the ceremony.

“Last night was truly an honor to represent Morningside as well as being with the people I’ve grown closer to over the years while being on homecoming court. The girls got to dress up and show off their style which was great to see them expressing themselves. This year’s homecoming court was special to me not only because the people that were on homecoming court, but because it was a tough race for both candidate nominees. My roommate, and best friend, K.J Williams, was honored as the king, along with my dearest friend Hannah Harris was honored as being crowned the queen. This experience was once in a lifetime, and I am glad I got to share this moment with everyone who has been there since day one,” Hoffman said

The new King and Queen of Morningside University will be honored again this Saturday during halftime of the Mustangs football game.
