After a long break due to COVID-19, the Friends of the Library Book Lovers’ Book Sale is returning. Because they haven’t had a sale for a couple of years there are thousands more books than usual. Hardcovers go for $4, paperbacks for $2, and children’s picture books for $1. After expenses, this money goes back to the Sioux City Public Library. Specifically, it can fund the library’s summer reading program–among other things.

The Friends of the Library Book Lovers’ Book Sale will be held on April 7-16, at the upper level of the old Younkers at the Southern Hills Mall (4380 Sergeant Rd. Sioux City, 51106).

The Book Sale will be open at the following times.
Thursday, April 7: 4-8 pm ($5 entrance fee on this day only)
Friday, April 8: 4-8 pm
Saturday, April 9: 10 am-8 pm
Sunday, April 10: Noon-6 pm
Monday, April 11- Friday, April 15: 4-8 pm
FREE DAY– Saturday, April 16: 10 am- until books are gone

Many faculty staff and students here at Morningside will be involved in the book fair as volunteers. They have already helped move and layout books in the last couple of days. One of those volunteers is Professor Brendan Todt.

“The Book Lovers Sale is a great opportunity for anyone to build their personal library. There are history books, language and literature books, general fiction, romance, self-help, and much more. Sales like these can be great–and inexpensive–opportunities for future teachers to build their classroom libraries” says, Todt.
