by Tracie Tuttle– Morningside students are showing off their artistic skills at the annual Student Art Show.
The show includes graphic design, studio art, and photography created by students from all areas of study, giving all students an opportunity to have their art on display.
Bryce Clinkenbeard, a sophomore gallery attendant, said that he appreciates the variety of art by both art and non-art majors because of the differing of perspectives it gives. He added that “it shows things we don’t see in everyday life.”
This year’s show was judged by photographer Michael Greiner and painter Klaire Lockheart. Lockheart announced the winners at the awards reception that took place on February 19.
The artists who took home first place are: Megan Kyhl in graphic design, Abby Hauser in photography, and Tani Russel with best of show in studio art.
At the reception, freshman photography and graphic design major Rachel Steinkamp, said that the show has “a lot of great art”, but would love to see more 3D and ceramics pieces in the future.
The show is up in the Eppley Art Gallery, which is open 8am-5pm during the week, until March 3.
